World Record Holder Goes For A Better Score

As if setting the Guiness Book of World Record wasn't enough, the young lad gets 100% on Dragon Force. Yes you read that right, 100% on Through the Fire and the Flames. He's pretty proud of himself as you can tell by the celebratory swearing he does at the end of the video.

Rock Band Guitar a No No with GH Aerosmith

For those of you who try to spark up the Guitar Hero Aerosmith with your Rock Band guitar, better luck next time. According to Activision they are citing, "Intellectual Property Concerns" as the reason the Rock Band guitar won't work on the new game. I guess the same isn't true for Rock Band which allows the Guitar Hero guitar. Oh well, maybe some day the two company's can play well in the same sandbox.

John Mayer Disses Guitar Hero

John Mayer, you know the guy more famous for dating Jennifer Aniston than his music, yeah that one. He decided to dis the popular video game by saying the following:

Guitar Hero was devised to bring the guitar-playing experience to the masses without them having to put anything into it. And having done both, there's nothing like really playing the guitar. I mean, what would you rather drive, a Ferrari or one of those amusement park cars on a track?

Hotels to start offering Wii and Guitar Hero Games

How many times have you been sitting in that hotel room of yours and then you look up to see that lonely game controller tucked away in the corner of the entertainment unit? Me either, but they are there, trust me. With the ever growing interest in Guitar Hero, and devices like the Wii, Hotels are starting to cash in by offering such services, but at a large price. Some hotels in major cities, such as Los Angeles, are charging up to $50 an hour to use Wii machines. That's a high price to pay for parents to entertain their kids for an hour. Regardless, it seems as though rocking out or going wiinsane are not just for your living room anymore. Now the road warriors can enjoy a little video game rock stardom while in their favorite hotel, and possibly pick up some groupies.

Activision Sued by Gibson

Video game publisher Activision Inc. has asked a federal court to declare that its popular "Guitar Hero" game does not violate a patent held by real-guitar maker Gibson Guitar Corp.

Gibson's 1999 patent covers a virtual-reality device that included a headset with speakers and that simulated participating in a concert, according to a complaint filed on Tuesday by Santa Monica, Calif.-based Activision in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Gibson is trying to get Activision to stop selling "Guitar Hero" until it gets a license under the patent, according to the complaint. But Activision says it doesn't want or need a license under the patent.

The songs are "Don’t Speak", "Excuse Me Mr." and "Sunday Morning". So if you ever wanted to rock out punk style, just like you did with the Sex Pistols songs, this pack is for you.

Ultimate Band - Disney Style

It was only a matter of time before the "mouse" got involved in the musical game arena. Disney has announced their plans to launch a game called "Ultimate Band". Please don't confuse this with Rock Band, as this one is only for the Nintendo Wii and DS. No other platforms yet, so the game's reach will be far less than Guitar Hero since it doesn't play on Xbox or Playstation, which is what most of the Guitar Hero games are sold for. In their press release, Disney had this to say: “We have chosen to combine familiar classics with today’s hottest songs.” One can only imagine what this means. Maybe a little Hanna Montana to rock out to? I don't know but I smell a little "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" in your future if you get this puppy.

Activision To Refund Bad Copies of GH III for Wii

Activision has announced it's plans to make all those Wii Guitar Hero Rockers happy. Either you wait for your disc to be replaced, which could take 4 - 6 weeks, or you can send your unit back for the full refund. If you decide to send your game back for the full refund you need to follow this link. Read it very closely and follow all the directions for a full refund.
But the real question is, why not just keep on rocking and wait for the replacement disc? If that doesn't work, then refund it, but at least give the game a chance.

Sing and Drum with Aerosmith?

While browsing around the Best Buy website, and doing a search for "Aerosmith", one might get extremely excited about the ads one might see for upcoming games. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith with a release date of 6/29/08 is listed on their website, with pre-orders available for Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation and Playstation 3.
What's even more interesting is what reads on the game description.

This adventure for the amazing Guitar Hero series lets you drum like Joey Kramer, wield an axe like Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, bring up the bottom like bassman Tom Hamilton and belt out vocals like the legendary Steven Tyler. Unlike the real band, you won't have to endure years of touring and endless hours on stage. Just pick up your instrument and play, or put the mic in your hand and sing.

Guitar Hero Effect is Real

USA Today reports that sales of music due to the popularity of Guitar Hero are climbing and the effect is very real. (Maybe now the recording industry will quit whining?)

“The Guitar Hero effect is real. DragonForce saw digital sales of Through the Fire rise from fewer than 2,000 weekly to a high of 37,825 the week ending Dec. 30, a week when many who got the game as a holiday gift were playing it. (Only one GH III song sold more, Guns N’ Roses’ Welcome to the Jungle at 38,330.)

No this isn't a site about Regan Reese doing a little bit more "Guitar Hero". There is a flash game that's been created that actually kinda of fun to play. The best part is that it's free and it isn't going to cost you an arm and a leg. Plus there is no guitar besides your keyboard, so no extra equipment to drag around either. Have yourself some "Flash Hero" fun.

The Wireless Guitar Pedal by React is exactly what the PS2 Guitar Hero Fanatic needs. Instead of tilting the guitar and taking your hand off the strum bar to hit the whammy, now you have all the controls at your feet. This bad boy only works on the PS2, so Xbox and Wii players will have to wait. Remember to stock up on AA batteries too, because this is going to take 4 of them.

Red Octane to Sell Stand Alone Guitar for Wii

One of the nice things about buying Guitar Hero II is that when Guitar Hero III came out, all you had to do was buy the game. However, if you want to have someone else over to jam with you on the Wii version, then you need to pick up an extra guitar. This isn't easily done, considering the only way to get the controller is to purchase the game again or have your friend bring their controller. Luckily RedOctane is taking care of this problem.

Guitar Hero III Classic Rock pack Available

It has been rumored that Guitar Hero III would come out with a classic rock pack. After checking Xbox Live this morning, it appears that there is now a "Classic Rock" Pack available for 500 Microsoft points, or $6.25 for those keeping track at home. The songs that are listed in this pack are all really good songs and should provide a lot of great game play. These songs are: Foreigner's "Juke Box Hero," Journey's "Any Way You Want It" and Boston's "Peace of Mind".
As of right now, we can only confirm these songs for Xbox 360, it maybe that the Playstation version is already live on PSN, but we can't confirm.

Gold Streaker - 500 Note Streak on Career

This 15 point achievement on Xbox 360 seems challenging at first. However there is a way to achieve this the easy way, and that's to beat it on Easy Mode. There are two songs that have 500 notes in it on Easy, "Number of the Beast" by Iron Maiden and "One" by Metallica. So strap on your plastic guitar and let it rip to get this achievement. If you can get this achievement with one of these songs on easy, your more than ready to start your career on Medium.

10 Buttons to Play With

ezGear has created a controller for the PlayStation 3, that has 10 buttons instead of the normal 5. No longer will adults, who's fingers are typically bigger than the younger generation of gamers, have trouble hitting all the right buttons. At this time the controller is only made for the PS3 and unfortunately it's wired, so you won't be able to rock out without being connected. However this does give women and children a much better Guitar Hero Experience, now that both large and small buttons are on the same piece.

A Real Guitar for Guitar Hero

One of the biggest complaints about Guitar Hero is the small plastic guitar that you were forced to use in order to Rock like a God. Well Peavy has come up with the Riffmaster Pro System. You can have one of your favorite bands such as, KISS, Pantera, Ozzy or Lynyrd Skynyrd. However, as cool as this all seems to be, it comes with a real price tag as well. The unfortunate part is that they are charging $2000 for the Guitar Hero add-on that only works with the PS2 game. For $2000, you get two guitars (authentic Peavy guitars that were gutted and had GH controls inserted), a full P.A. system and a monitor.
