Well, this picture seems to indicate that Billy Corgan will be part of the Guitar Hero World Tour. As you can see in the picture it seems as though Mr. Smashing Pumpkins is all wired up so they can capture all his movements.
Target has revealed that they will be exclusive sellers of a Wii bundle for Guitar Hero Aerosmith. The bundle for the Wii version of the game, featuring two wireless controllers and a tour book will likely be priced at $149.99.
On June 29th, Dario Franchitti’s No. 40 Dodge will have the Aerosmith Guitar Hero logo splashed all over it. Franchitti had this to say about the sponsorship:
I love video games and actually have versions of Guitar Hero that I play on my bus and at home. To have Target, Activision and Aerosmith on my car for the New Hampshire race is pretty cool,” said Franchitti. “Who doesn’t love Aerosmith’s music? It’s perfect for getting ready for the side-by-side, non-stop action of NASCAR racing.
Activision has announced it's plans for some new DLC's for the month of June. We couldn't be any more pleases with what we are about to get. The press release from Activision reads as follows:
Reliving one of the most memorable performances of the 2007 Isle of Wight festival, Kasabian’s master recording of “Shoot the Runner” joins 2008 headliners The Sex Pistols and Kaiser Chiefs in the Isle of Wight pack. Available on June 12th, the track pack also features Kaiser Chief’s “I Predict a Riot” which climbed all the way to #9 on the UK Singles Chart. The Sex Pistols, who went into the studio for the first time in 30 years to re-record “Anarchy in the U.K.” specifically for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, round out the track pack with a live rendition of “Problems,” recorded during their 30th anniversary tour stop at Brixton Academy in London.
John Mayer, you know the guy more famous for dating Jennifer Aniston than his music, yeah that one. He decided to dis the popular video game by saying the following:
Guitar Hero was devised to bring the guitar-playing experience to the masses without them having to put anything into it. And having done both, there's nothing like really playing the guitar. I mean, what would you rather drive, a Ferrari or one of those amusement park cars on a track?
According to the official Playstation Blog, RedOctane/Activision Producer Chuck Park, announced some news regarding the much anticipated release of God of War II DLC:

Starting Thursday, check in to the PLAYSTATION STORE and look for Add-On content on the home page. Download, fire up Guitar Hero III, check out the Downloads section and Rock Out!
Metallica has gotten itself in the mix for promoting it's own signature series of Guitar Hero. The following was on their myspace page as "METALLICA GUITAR HERO GAME. . . FACT OR FICTION?":
An all Metallica Guitar Hero game . . . fact or fiction? Idle internet gossip, wishful thinking, or the real deal? Let's just say that perhaps, just maybe, if you've already mastered "One" on GHIII there might be a pile of 'Tallica songs in your future.
More details later this summer . . .
Guitar Hero Aerosmith is adding 5 additional songs to the menu, and two new bands. The following five songs will be played in Moscow, and it appears as though the final song will feature one of the most memorable remakes of an Aerosmith song of all time.
It appears as though the Playstation is getting a DLC that the xbox folks aren't, just like the Halo theme download that Xbox 360 customers got and Playstation owners didn't. The Guitar Hero Community site has stated that "The End Begins (to Rock)" from God of War II, will be available for download starting June 5th.
A new world record was set for the most points in a single song by Daniel Johnson on Guitar Hero III. Johnson scored 890,971 on the Xbox 360 version of the game doing the "Through the Fire and Flames" song by Dragonforce on Expert level. The previous record-holder was Chris Chike, who scored 880,920 in March of 2008.
Although the specifics haven't been announced, but it appears as though Ted Nugent will appear in an upcoming release of Guitar Hero. We can only hope that we get to play "Stranglehold" or "Cat Scratch Fever". It also appears that Nugent could show up as a boss in one of the upcoming releases.
Looks like 7 - 11 couldn't wait to get into the Guitar Hero action, and neither could Activision and Microsoft to promote the upcoming release of Guitar Hero Aerosmith. The promotion isn't just so fans can collect GH cups, you can also win all kinds of Guitar Hero goodies, games, and Xbox 360 hardware with online entry codes that are available on each Slurpee cup.
Activision has gone and done it. They give those who really want to see how guitar hero works the opportunity to rock out while the boss isn't looking. Check out this link to see how it works online.

Rivers Cuomo, the front man for the band Weezer, suggests that playing rhythm games is a waste of time. Mind you, Weezer has multiple tracks on both Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and is paid to have their songs licensed. Rivers was quoted as saying
The official statement behind the whole Def Leppard rumor has been put to rest. According to Activision
The Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Def Leppard song pack – featuring “Nine Lives”, “Rock Of Ages” and “Photograph” will be available online for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (North America only) on the 24th April 2008 and for European PlayStation 3 owners from 8th May 2008.
According to Charlie Daniels website, he apparently isn't happy with what Activision has done with his song, "The Devil went down to Georgia". This statement by the legendary country singer, goes to show you that not all things are great in the Rock and Roll business. In Daniels version of the song, the Devil always looses, I guess in real life that isn't always the case.
By popular demand, Rockline Radio has released footage of Def Leppard speaking publicly about being a part of Guitar Hero 4. To hear the audio, visit the Rockline Radio replay site by clicking here.
How many times have you been sitting in that hotel room of yours and then you look up to see that lonely game controller tucked away in the corner of the entertainment unit? Me either, but they are there, trust me. With the ever growing interest in Guitar Hero, and devices like the Wii, Hotels are starting to cash in by offering such services, but at a large price. Some hotels in major cities, such as Los Angeles, are charging up to $50 an hour to use Wii machines. That's a high price to pay for parents to entertain their kids for an hour. Regardless, it seems as though rocking out or going wiinsane are not just for your living room anymore. Now the road warriors can enjoy a little video game rock stardom while in their favorite hotel, and possibly pick up some groupies.
It's been no secret that the premise behind the upcoming release of Guitar Hero Aerosmith, is to follow Aerosmith through their rock journey and play songs of those that they played with. Activision has released information of a few of the groups that appeared on the same bill as Aerosmith and will be available in the game. Here are few of those bands and the songs that will be playable.
Wouldn't it be cool to be a character in the next Guitar Hero game? Well thanks to Activision that dream can now be a reality with the competition at Rock Icon. Send your browser on over to www.releaseyourrockstar.com and enter to get into the competition. While your there check out the video of what the competition has looked like up to this point. Oh, and don't get nervous when you see who the judge is. Ever heard of Lemmy from Motorhead? Well yeah, get ready to Air Guitar in front of one of the baddest men in Metal.
With all the excitement over the first Guitar Hero Dedication game, rumors are starting to heat up as to what the next dedicated game title will be. Some may not be rumors at all. Martin N. Bandier, the top executive at the music publishing company that owns the John Lennon- Paul McCartney copyrights, said he liked the idea of a dedicated Beatles edition of Guitar Hero, Activision Inc.'s hugely popular video-game franchise. Bandier said:
"It's something we have talked about and something I'd like to pursue"
Chris Chike, 16, is the Guinness World Record holder for the highest score for a song on the video game "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock."
In New York City on Tuesday, competing against other gamers, Chike, of Rochester, earned 870,647 points -- or 97 percent completion on Expert Level -- for the song "Through the Fire and Flames" by DragonForce.
As part of an interview with RedOctane co-founders Kai and Charles Huang, the following was stated regarding the future of Guitar Hero for the Nintendo Wii.
The brothers say they’ll also stretch the game’s capabilities on the Nintendo Wii console. Although "Guitar Hero III" is already available on the Wii, the capabilities of the console’s unique motion-sensitive controller could allow RedOctane to dramatically alter the gaming experience. The Huangs are closely studying the Wii because the platform attracts players who want the added social benefit of playing with other people.”
Video game publisher Activision Inc. has asked a federal court to declare that its popular "Guitar Hero" game does not violate a patent held by real-guitar maker Gibson Guitar Corp.
Gibson's 1999 patent covers a virtual-reality device that included a headset with speakers and that simulated participating in a concert, according to a complaint filed on Tuesday by Santa Monica, Calif.-based Activision in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.
Gibson is trying to get Activision to stop selling "Guitar Hero" until it gets a license under the patent, according to the complaint. But Activision says it doesn't want or need a license under the patent.
That's right, Activision has signed on to be a sponsor of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland Ohio. Activision will sponsor the Cleveland rock museum's exhibit on some of rock's most legendary guitarists, which includes artifacts from Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain, Jerry Garcia, Robbie Robertson and others. In addition, Activision was also an official sponsor of the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
You wrote, and we, well we read and listened. Eventually we knew this site would have to change, and now that change is coming. Here are just a few of changes that are coming that you have asked for.
Picture Gallery of your Axe. Not only are we going to allow you to submit your pictures, but we are also going to implement a voting system so that we can find out who has the Ultimate Axe.
Ultimate Guitar Hero profile pics. This one was strange, but we still got a lot of requests for it. Just like the Axe, we are going to let you submit pictures of yourself, or friends playing Guitar Hero. Then we are going to vote on the Guitar Hero of choice
T-Shirts coming back. Remember a long long time ago, when we originally opened the site and you could buy some T's? Well they are coming back, but this time with a twist. Not only are we going to offer our old designs, but we are going to let you submit your own and then have people vote on them. The one's with the highest votes get printed, and the designer will get a free print of their shirt. Not a bad deal huh?
A contact form. You mean a link to an email wasn't enough? Ok, we give, will give you a form to fill things out. But this is last on our list, seriously.
It was only a matter of time before the "mouse" got involved in the musical game arena. Disney has announced their plans to launch a game called "Ultimate Band". Please don't confuse this with Rock Band, as this one is only for the Nintendo Wii and DS. No other platforms yet, so the game's reach will be far less than Guitar Hero since it doesn't play on Xbox or Playstation, which is what most of the Guitar Hero games are sold for. In their press release, Disney had this to say: “We have chosen to combine familiar classics with today’s hottest songs.” One can only imagine what this means. Maybe a little Hanna Montana to rock out to? I don't know but I smell a little "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" in your future if you get this puppy.
Activision has announced it's plans to make all those Wii Guitar Hero Rockers happy. Either you wait for your disc to be replaced, which could take 4 - 6 weeks, or you can send your unit back for the full refund. If you decide to send your game back for the full refund you need to follow this link. Read it very closely and follow all the directions for a full refund.
But the real question is, why not just keep on rocking and wait for the replacement disc? If that doesn't work, then refund it, but at least give the game a chance.
On the 5th February, Activision applied for the trademark of “DJ Hero”, which could mean that a new game with a totally new controller is on it's way. The trademark reads as follows:
computer game software and related instruction manual sold together as a unit; interactive video game programs; computer game discs; downloadable software for use in connection with computer games; video game controllers; interactive video game comprised of a CD or DVD sold as a unit with a video game controller
USA Today reports that sales of music due to the popularity of Guitar Hero are climbing and the effect is very real. (Maybe now the recording industry will quit whining?)
“The Guitar Hero effect is real. DragonForce saw digital sales of Through the Fire rise from fewer than 2,000 weekly to a high of 37,825 the week ending Dec. 30, a week when many who got the game as a holiday gift were playing it. (Only one GH III song sold more, Guns N’ Roses’ Welcome to the Jungle at 38,330.)
Guitar Rising is a music video game where the player plays a real guitar as cued by the game’s visuals. Following rock music sequences and streaming notes, players play guitar melodies and rhythms. Beginner difficulty levels are designed for non-guitar players and hard difficulties will challenge experienced guitarists.

Band Mashups is the first time a musical “mashup” game has been delivered on Wii, allowing players to battle it out with their preferred musical style. Band Mashups features both an exciting two player versus mode and an extensive single-player campaign where players take on the role of one of eleven bands trying to topple the nefarious big boss Mr. Hong and take control of the faraway city of New Cadenza.
During Activision's financial conference call, company execs announced that the publisher will release two new Guitar Hero titles sometime in the company's first fiscal 2009 quarter (which begins on April 1, 2008). No other details on the games were revealed by the execs, stating they wanted to keep their plans secret for competitive reasons. Another new Guitar Hero title is also due for release this fall but again no new details were revealed.
One of the drawbacks to owning Guitar Hero III, is that in order to jam with your friends, they need to own the game as well, or know someone who also has a controller. Well RedOctane and Activision finally got it together and will release single guitar controllers to purchase.
Guitar Hero is so popular that even the stars are starting to get the hang of it. Paris Hilton, seen here playing some Guitar Hero at Sundance in Park City, Utah. In case you forgot or it slipped your mind, Hilton was once an aspiring musician. Remember that "Aspiring" is the key phrase here.
The website Trademork released a post yesterday that stated Activision filed to protect the trademark Guitar Hero On Tour in relation to
“computer game software and related instruction manual sold together as a unit; interactive video game programs; computer game cartridges; computer game discs; downloadable software for use in connection with computer games; video game controllers; Interactive video game comprised of a cartridge or DVD sold as a unit with a video game controller”.
To help support a growing interest in guitar study, RedOctane and NAMM announced a partnership at the annual NAMM Show in Anaheim, Calif. that will link Guitar Hero III to NAMM's “Wanna Play” campaign. This new facet of the public awareness campaign focuses on bridging the gap between virtual and real-life musicianship. NAMM CEO Joe Lamond said
“Our partnership with Guitar Hero will demonstrate a fun progression from playing an interactive game with roots in music to learning how to play an instrument for real,”
By now we have all seen the "Will It Blend" guy on YouTube and other online video sites, but is it really sensible to try and blend a Guitar Hero guitar? First of all, we all know that the DVD will blend, we've seen him do that before, and we also know that the guitar is too big to fit into the blender.
Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee plays Guitar Hero with some kids at a house party fundraiser. Maybe if a few more candidates would show their real side, then we might actually view them as humans instead of anti-everything types of people.
